Custom Core Inserts for Bottle Cap Moulds
CNC-turned core inserts and precision mould components for bottle cap, plastic closure and packaging injection mould projects.
Short Intro
SENLAN manufactures custom core inserts for bottle cap and plastic closure injection moulds according to customer drawings, 3D models or reviewed samples. These components are used in new mould projects, replacement insert projects and planned spare-part batches where critical dimensions, material, hardness and fit conditions must be controlled.
A core insert is not only a machined part. In a cap or closure mould, it may affect internal geometry, thread-related features, sealing position, release behaviour and cavity-to-cavity consistency.

Product Overview
Core inserts form functional internal areas of bottle caps and plastic closures. Depending on the mould design, they may include thread-related geometry, sealing surfaces, locating features, release surfaces or other precision areas that influence mould performance.
For new cap mould projects, SENLAN manufactures core inserts from approved technical data and controls the dimensions identified as critical on the drawing. For maintenance projects, replacement core inserts can be reviewed from existing drawings, 3D data, old parts or reference samples.
When interchangeability with an existing mould is required, customers should provide cavity number, datum references, mating dimensions and available information about mould wear or previous manual fitting history.

Application Areas
| Application | How Core Inserts Support the Mould |
|---|---|
| Water Bottle Caps | Core inserts for screw-cap moulds where thread form, sealing features and repeatable cavity output affect cap fit and leakage-related risk control. |
| Beverage Closures | Drawing-based inserts for plastic closures used on water and beverage bottles, including new mould and replacement insert projects. |
| Food Container Caps | Custom inserts for threaded caps used on jars, sauces and food packaging containers according to the customer’s closure design. |
| Cosmetic and Personal Care Closures | Turned core inserts for threaded, sealing and fitting features in skincare, cosmetic and personal-care packaging moulds. |
| Household Product Closures | Mould components for detergent, cleaning-product and dispensing closures where fit, wear resistance and replacement repeatability matter. |
| Medical-Related Packaging | Drawing-based components for container and closure moulds with defined dimensional, material and inspection requirements. Final product validation remains the customer’s responsibility. |
| Mould Maintenance and Spare Parts | Single-cavity replacements and planned spare batches for existing cap moulds, subject to drawing, sample and fit review. |
Custom Manufacturing Options
Each project is manufactured from 2D drawings, 3D models, samples or documented technical requirements. Buyers can specify:
steel grade, heat treatment and target hardness;
part dimensions, datum system, fits and critical tolerances;
thread, sealing, concentric and other functional geometry;
polishing, TiN coating or DLC coating when technically suitable;
prototype, one-piece replacement or repeat-batch quantity;
cavity numbering and inspection requirements;
interchangeable spare-part requirements for existing moulds;
dimensional reports and material certificate requirements when needed.
If only a sample is available, SENLAN can review which dimensions can be measured and reproduced. Functional tolerances and mating conditions should still be confirmed before manufacturing.

Quality Control
Technical Review Before Machining
Material, hardness, datum references, fits, surface requirements and CTQ dimensions are reviewed before machining. Any unclear requirement should be confirmed before production starts.
In-Process Dimensional Checks
Critical diameters, lengths, concentric relationships and fitting features are checked during appropriate machining stages to reduce final assembly and replacement risk.
Final Inspection
CMM inspection and suitable dimensional inspection methods are selected according to feature geometry and agreed requirements. Critical dimensions, surface condition and fit-related features are checked before release.
Quality Documents
Dimensional reports and material certificates can be supplied when requested in the RFQ and agreed with the order. Inspection scope should be confirmed before production.

What to Send for Quotation
Providing complete technical information helps SENLAN review manufacturability, inspection needs and lead time before quotation.
2D drawings with dimensions, tolerances and datum references;
3D files such as STEP, STP, X_T or IGES;
material and material-certificate requirements;
hardness and heat-treatment requirements;
surface finish, polishing or coating requirements;
required quantity and expected repeat orders;
closure application, mould type and cavity count;
critical dimensions, fits and inspection-report requirements;
sample, sample photos or defect photos when available;
old insert or cavity number information for replacement projects.
Clear RFQ information helps reduce quotation assumptions and allows SENLAN to review whether the request is for a new cap mould insert, a one-piece replacement or a repeat spare-part batch.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can you manufacture core inserts according to our drawings?
Yes. SENLAN manufactures CNC-turned core inserts according to customer drawings, 3D models, reviewed samples and agreed technical requirements.
What materials can you process?
Common material options include H13 / 1.2344, 1.2738 and Stavax. Final material selection should be confirmed according to mould function, wear condition, surface requirement and customer drawing.
Can every feature be held to ±0.005 mm?
No. SENLAN can control customer-defined critical-to-quality dimensions to ±0.005 mm when applicable, but achievable tolerance depends on part geometry, size, material, heat treatment, datum structure and inspection method.
Can you provide inspection reports?
Yes. CMM reports, dimensional reports and material certificates can be provided when requested and agreed before production. Inspection scope should be clearly stated in the RFQ.
What is the typical lead time?
Many custom core inserts can be reviewed within 7–15 working days after deposit and technical data approval. Final delivery time depends on complexity, material, surface treatment, quantity and inspection requirements.
Do you support small quantity orders?
Yes. SENLAN can support one-piece replacement inserts, prototypes and small-quantity orders according to customer drawings and project requirements.
Can you make replacement inserts for an existing mould?
Yes. Replacement inserts can be reviewed when drawings, old parts, cavity numbers, defect photos or sample records are available. Existing mould wear and previous manual fitting history should also be considered before confirming replacement feasibility.
